Bihar's Mithila belt grows 85–90% of the world's Makhana, and Mithila Makhana holds Geographical Indication (GI) status — recognition that this fox nut, grown in these ponds, is genuinely distinct. But the infrastructure around it hasn't kept pace: no shared monitoring, no standardized processing, and no way for a buyer to verify what they're paying for.
MMI exists to close that gap — not by replacing the farmer or the pond, but by connecting them to the monitoring, processing and market tools that turn a GI tag into a price premium farmers actually receive.
